Long Train Running by The Doobie Brothers, Lyrics by Tom Johnston.

Memorable bits of song: Rhythmic guitar riff that progresses and intensifies, wailing harmonica solo and the refrain: without love where would you be right now…?

What I remember from then: Head banging the air at a bar with a live band. It was too good to dance to, concentrated on listening instead.  Eyes closed, face scrunched, frown on forehead, mouthing what I thought were the words. At the bar with Jenny, then newly friended coworker, now bff. Bonding on a Friday night straight from work, brand new job in brand new career.  Had a crush on the lead guitarist, the town’s very own “slow hand.”

I was possessed.
