Long Train Running by  The Doobie Brothers

Memorable bits: Rhythmic guitar riff that progresses and intensifies, wailing harmonica solo and the refrain, without love where would you be right now…?

Head banging the air at a bar, it was too good to dance to, concentrated on listening instead, eyes closed, face scrunched, frown on forehead, mouthing what I thought were the words with Jenny, then newly friended coworker, now bff. Bonding on a Friday night straight from work, brand new job in brand new career.  Had a crush on the lead guitarist, the town’s very own “slow hand.”

I was possessed.

Lyrics written by guitarist and lead singer Tom Johnston.
